PEASE: A PUF-Based Efficient Authentication and Session Establishment Protocol for Machine-to-Machine Communication in Industrial IoT

Machine-to-machine (M2M) communication is one of the critical technologies industrial Internet Things (IoT), which consists sensors, actuators at edge, and servers. In order to solve security availability problems regarding between edge devices with constrained resources servers in M2M communication, this study we proposed an authentication session establishment protocol based on physical unclonable functions (PUFs). The scheme does not require clock synchronization among devices, it circumvents situation where phase has use a high computational overhead fuzzy extractor due PUF noise. contains two message interactions, provide strong while being lightweight. modelling CPN Tools, verifies attributes attack resistance phase. After considering design scalability, significantly reduces by more than 93.83% compared other schemes using PUFs. Meanwhile, under guarantee availability, maintained balanced reasonable level, least 19.67% lower solution XOR, hashing, or elliptic curve.
